چکیده
Abstract Background β-blockers are one of the four recommended disease-modifying classes drugs for treatment heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Although their efficacy and prognostic role is unquestionable in general population HFrEF patients, differences effect relation to sex have not been yet investigated detail. The present study analyzed a large, real-world, Italian patients aiming highlight any difference between males females dose β-selectivity ongoing β-blocker treatment. Methods Out 7900 included MECKI score registry, we retrospectively those treated β-blockers. We β-selectivity, dividing assuming β1/β2-receptor blockers (carvedilol) vs. β1-selective (bisoprolol, nebivolol or metoprolol), according sex, daily carvedilol-equivalent sex. primary outcome was composite all cause mortality, urgent transplant LVAD implant at 5 years, both as raw data after correction potential confounders. Results 6784 were (1215 females, 5569 males). Patients median follow-up 4.05 years [1.72-7.47]: 4.37 [1.6-8.13] 3.99 [1.75-7.3] (p=ns). According no found population, female (Fig. 1 right panel). Stratification equivalent showed significant among groups: mortality decreases increasing 1, left panel), baseline adjustment main confounders (LVEF, age, peakVO2, systolic pressure, hemoglobin, rest rate; VE/VCO2 slope, etiology. ICD, MDRD). Conclusions In real-life chronic stratifying β-selectivity. A better observed subjects receiving high dose, independently from

Sex differences in the incidence of psychiatric disorders have been well recognized and documented. It is known that depression, anxiety disorders and eating disorders occur more commonly in women. Sex-specific syndromes such as post partum depression and premenstrual dysphoric disorder have recently been characterized as distinct psychiatric disorders. Yet, until the early 1990s, women were of...

Background: The sporadic cases of radiation-activated multiple sclerosis (MS) has been previously described, with a few studies focused on the relationship between radiation and the risk of MS. The aim of our study was to evaluate the association between history of X-ray radiation and MS. Methods : This case-control study was conducted on 150 individuals including 65 MS patients and 85 age-...
متن کاملDo humans adjust offspring sex according to the local operational sex ratio?
Question: Do humans overproduce the rarer sex in response to skews in the local operational sex ratio (OSR)? And how should one define the OSR in humans? Hypothesis: We predicted that instead of the current adult sex ratio used in previous studies as a cue for the local OSR, parents should use the offspring sex ratio of the immediate preceding cohorts (estimated by an average spousal age differ...
